Wine Barrel Storage
Wine producers lose wine to evaporation during the aging process. If the ambient humidity is not controlled, the “topping off” process (adding back lost wine) can become expen-sive. Some vineyards report losses as great as 14% by volume in three years when storage conditions are 60% RH.
Wine makers consider humidity over 75% RH for reds and over 85% RH for whites to be ideal.

Wine Bottle Storage
Aging wine in the bottle is a complex series of chemical reactions involving minute contact with air through the cork. Cork is a natural product and will deteriorate with time even when the wine is in contact. If the air is too dry, the cork will dry out, shrink, crack and allow more air into the wine.
Experts agree that 50% RH is too low for wine bottle storage. Ideal humidity levels should range between 60% RH and 80% RH. The VaporDry™ system will precisely control the humidity, so your wine ages under the best conditions.
